Rayados announced the departure of their coach, Vucetich

After the elimination of Rayados de Monterrey in the semifinals of the Liga MX Apertura 2022, the board of directors decided not to renew the contract of coach Víctor Manuel Vucetich. The news was released hours before the game corresponding to matchday 17 of the championship against Atlético de San Luis.

"Monterrey Rayados SAD informs that as of today, Víctor Manuel Vucetich is no longer the technical director of the first team. We thank him for his work and commitment, as well as for the titles achieved during his tenure. We wish him the best in his future projects," said the institution in a statement.

Vucetich: "I don't agree with the board's decision"

After the announcement, Vucetich spoke to the media and expressed his disagreement with the board's decision. "I don't share the way it was done. I think I deserved more respect and consideration for the work I have done," said the strategist.

"I am proud of what we have achieved in these three years. We have won two league titles, a Concacaf Champions League, and we have reached the semifinals of the Club World Cup. I think we have done a good job," added the Mexican coach.

What's next for Vucetich?

Now that he is out of Rayados, Vucetich is expected to take a break before returning to the bench. The strategist has been linked with several teams, but he has not yet made a decision about his future.

"I am going to take some time to rest and analyze my options. I am not in a hurry to make a decision," said Vucetich.
